Or as close to winter as we have here in Central California…
46°F right now, with a high (maybe) of 54° today. Weather nerd update.
I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday and is looking forward to a wondrous New Year! For me, this time of year has always been one of reflection on the past year and anticipation for the year to come.
Publishing my first novel in 2025 was a huge bucket list item—a long-time dream come true. With perseverance, hard work, and God’s good grace, 2026 will bring the publication of my second novel in the series, Long Term Desire. I mention God’s grace because 2026 also brings a milestone birthday for me—though I’m keeping which one a secret! I will say, however, if Bertha Wood could publish her first novel on her 100th birthday, then I’m way ahead of the curve! 😊
Long Term Desire’s plot is taking a few twists and turns I didn’t anticipate when I first started. I find myself fighting the urge to constantly edit as I write. I blame both the perfectionist in me and the years I spent transcribing and editing for others. I truly envy writers who can simply sit down and let the words flow directly from brain to fingertips. For me, that flow happens mostly in bed, right before sleep—entire scenes and dialogues play out in my head. But once I sit in front of a keyboard… the editor sneaks out! Aargh!
Anyway, I’m plugging away and hope to have this one finished in a couple of months. My plan is for this to be a three-book series, with the last one featuring Noah’s and Grant’s boss, Jason. My sincere hope is to have this series completed by the end of 2026.
As I mentioned in my last newsletter, I deeply appreciate all the positive reviews of Long Term Surrender. I’ve also taken to heart the constructive remarks provided by a few readers—thank you so much for taking the time to share them! Feedback like that is invaluable for a new author.
As we close out 2025, I want to wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year, filled with love, laughter, good health, and all the wonderful things you hope for yourself and your loved ones.
